Cycling & Gilets – When to Wear One (And When to Skip It)

Dear Keada Sports Community,

Until recently, I wasn’t a gilet convert—but now I see why it’s a must-have for cyclists. Lightweight, packable, and perfect for layering, it’s a game-changer. But when is it the right choice, and when should you leave it behind?

 When to Wear a Gilet:
🚴 Cool Mornings & Evenings – Keeps your core warm without overheating.
🌬 Windy Rides – Adds an extra barrier against chilly gusts, especially on descents.
🌦 Unpredictable Weather – A packable gilet is ideal for sudden temperature drops or light drizzle.

 When to Skip It:
🌞 Hot Days – Overheating is real! If the sun’s out, a gilet might be overkill.
🌧 Heavy Rain – Gilets aren’t waterproof, so a proper rain jacket is a better call.
🥶 Freezing Conditions – When temps plummet, opt for a full jacket with insulation.

A good gilet can be your best friend on the bike—just make sure it’s the right time to wear it!

Stay warm and happy cycling!

Thank you,
Jack
